Energoatom, Turboatom and Holtec International signed Memorandum of cooperation under construction of the CSFSF
On October 28th Energoatom, Turboatom and Holtec International held multilateral negotiations and signed a number of agreements aimed at effective cooperation between fuel and energy complex of Ukraine and western companies, the leaders in nuclear technologies, at SE NNEGC Energoatom’s EU office in Brussels.
In the frame of the meeting the President of Energoatom, Yuriy Nedashkovskyi, General Director of PJSC “Turboatom”, Victor Subbotin, the President - Chief Executive Officer of American company Holtec International, Inc., Dr. Kris P. Singh, signed Memorandum of Understanding between the companies.
Memorandum of Understanding defines the conditions of collaboration between the partners, Turboatom and Holtec International, under Construction of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility () for Ukrainian NPPs Project. Memorandum acknowledges transfer of technologies for manufacturing specifically designed storage casks (HI-STORM) for storing spent fuel by Holtec International as technology owner. Estimated cost of Turboatom’s services for Holtec International may reach USD 200 million for the next 10 years, including approximately USD 60 million for CSFSF equipment. Holtec and Turboatom are planning to sign commercial contract on CSFSF Project till January 2016.
Dr. Kris P. Singh informed the members of negotiations that 10 years ago, during the procedure of signing the contract with Energoatom, Holtec International aimed at maximum allocation of equipment manufacturing utilized at CSFSF in Ukraine. Dr. Kris P. Singh is sure that Turboatom will not only put such equipment in production but will also be able to export it in the future.
Victor Subbotin has emphasized the fact that Turboatom will quickly and qualitatively master new Holtec technologies which will enable to enhance competitiveness of local engineering in world markets and will provide additional energy safety level of Ukraine.
In his turn Yuriy Nedashkovskyi has stressed upon the importance of cooperation under Memorandum which will become a significant stage in implementation of Energoatom’s import substitution program and will anticipate the process of Construction of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility.
*SE NNEGC “Energoatom” Delegation, namely representatives of company’s management and local producers of NPP equipment, stayed in Brussels for the period from 27th till 29th of October with intention to hold negotiations with representatives of the EC and leading companies in fuel and energy complex to extend cooperation. On October 28th Energoatom signed an agreement of confidentiality with company Transnubel (Belgium) and protocol of intention for cooperation with Tractebel Engineering (Belgium).
