Energoatom is about to supply 5,000 liters of medical oxygen per day to hospitals in Zaporizhzhya, Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions free of charge
This was announced by the Acting President of NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin while visiting the nitrogen-oxygen plant at the Zaporizhzhya NPP site, where medical oxygen will be produced for Ukrainian hospitals. As a socially responsible company, Energoatom has initiated the medical oxygen supplying to COVID-19 patients who need oxygen support. Therefore, its production was launched at the nitrogen-oxygen plants of Zaporizhzhya, Khmelnytskyi and Rivne NPPs.
In March 2021, NNEGC obtained a license for "Medical Oxygen" manufacturing activities in the framework of the "Energoatom Medicine" project.
At present, there is only one step left before sending its first batches to the hospitals, namely Energoatom should obtain the opinion of the State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health Care along with registration of medical oxygen as a pharmacologic agent. The Company submitted all the necessary documents to the Ministry.
Upon obtaining final approvals, NNEGC will supply about 120 medical oxygen cylinders (5,000 liters) to the hospitals in Zaporizhzhya, Rivne and Khmelnytskyi regions free of charge.
Nuclear power plant specialists have already equipped and accredited Pharmaceuticals Quality and Safety Control Laboratories in accordance with all statutory requirements and procedures. Furthermore, experts from the Ministry of Health Care conducted several stages of intensive inspections of nuclear power plants, and trained efficient staff at the power plants themselves.
SE NNEGC Energoatom is sincerely convinced that the Minister of Health Care and its officials will not delay and all the necessary approvals for the medical oxygen registration will be expedited on an urgent basis. We are aimed at saving as many lives as possible and helping the state to cope with the pandemic effects.
